In December 2023, WSC’s Full Scope High Fidelity Generic Nuclear Power Plant Simulators for a Pressurized Water Reactor (GPWR) and Boiling Water Reactor (GBWR) were provided to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The GPWR and GBWR simulators, shown below, allow students to perform complete plant startups, shutdowns, and load maneuvers, as well as realistically simulate normal and abnormal plant transients, including malfunction scenarios. Each 3KEYMASTER Simulator model includes WSC’s Intelligent Tutoring system, 3KEYITS, with the GPWR delivered with an initial set of lessons.

Greatly appreciated by WSC was the outstanding help from the UIUC staff and students in installing and setting up the GPWR and GBWR simulators for use in these platforms:

• Traditional Classroom with student/operator, and instructor workstations,
• 3KEYTOUCH GlassTops that act as a replica control room for standalone or team training, and
• Research Lab equipped with 3KEYMASTER development stations capable of developing future simulators.

In early 2024, WSC was at UIUC for a week to train professors and graduate students on use of the GPWR, GBWR, and ITS.
